Our Conscious Candles are made for people who love scented candles but want to be a little more considered about what goes in them — and what’s left behind. Poured using 100% natural coconut wax, housed in reusable paint-tin vessels and scented with consciously sourced fragrance oils, these are eco-friendly candles designed to earn their place on your shelf. Clean-burning, non-toxic coconut wax, vegan and plastic-free on the outer packaging — our most sustainable candle collection to date.

Why coconut wax?

Coconut wax is one of the cleanest-burning natural waxes available. It comes from a renewable crop, burns more slowly than paraffin (so your candle lasts longer), and releases fragrance evenly without the soot associated with petroleum-based waxes. It’s non-toxic, vegan and completely biodegradable. We chose it because it performs — the scent throw is excellent, the burn pool is even, and the wax holds fragrance beautifully without needing synthetic stabilisers.

Reusable vessels, by design

Every Conscious Candle is poured into a reusable paint-tin vessel. Once you’ve burnt your way through the wax, the tin has a second life: as a desk tidy, a small planter, a catch-all for keys or a storage pot for craft bits. Wash it out with warm soapy water and it’s ready to go. This is part of how we think about sustainable candles — not just what goes in, but what’s left behind.

Frequently asked questions

What makes a candle 'eco-friendly'?

A genuinely eco-friendly candle considers the wax (natural and renewable), the fragrance (consciously sourced, not synthetic-heavy), the vessel (reusable or recyclable) and the packaging (plastic-free where possible). Our Conscious Candles meet all four.

Are coconut wax candles better than soy?

Both are plant-based and far cleaner than paraffin. Coconut wax burns a little slower than soy, holds fragrance particularly well and produces minimal soot. Soy is more widely grown and often cheaper. For luxury scent throw and long burn time, coconut wax performs best.

Are Chickidee Conscious Candles vegan?

Yes. Our Conscious Candles are vegan, cruelty-free and made with 100% natural coconut wax.

Can I recycle the candle tin?

The tin is designed to be reused rather than recycled — clean it out with warm soapy water once the wax is finished and it makes a great planter, desk pot or storage tin. If you don't want to reuse it, it can go into metal recycling.
